Images of Language
Language Games: There are different types of "images of language", figuratively speaking :)
Look at each image and try to figure out what statement fits best to the vivid imagery you see.
Hover over the image with the mouse or pointer to reveal the answer.
Enjoy!
- Simile: A comparison using "like" or "as." For example, "Her smile was as bright as the sun."
- Metaphor: A direct comparison between two things without using "like" or "as." For example, "Time is a thief."
- Personification: Giving human characteristics to non-human objects or abstract ideas. For example, "The wind whispered through the trees."
- Hyperbole: An exaggerated statement not meant to be taken literally. For example, "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse." Imagine a person with an enormous appetite, ready to devour a whole horse.
